After the first issue of the Eagle’s Eye paper students protested a certain quote in the Entertainment section.
Students were upset with the quote in which junior Eric Guerrero stated his opinion on the Diamond Dazzlers being in the band for the half time show.
Guerrero declined to comment for this story.
“Please be in their shoes, deal with their stress, and work as hard as they work before saying they aren’t serious,” junior Daniel Broxton said.
There are some people who, while not agreeing with him, have seen a few flaws in the Diamonds performances.
“I think the Diamonds are great dancers,” senior, Cristina Gonzalez said. “However I have been to a couple games where I have seen the Diamonds that are not officers mess up once or twice. Maybe they are not as experienced. I am not saying they are bad dancers though.”
Some students feel that if they were a part of the diamonds they would have been even more angry at Guerrero than they already are.
“I’ve worked with Diamonds before and seen their practices, it is upsetting to me that someone would bash them. They practice in the mornings, after school everyday and even miss late start days,” Broxton said. “From seeing their work ethic up close I know that they truly put a lot of effort and serious attitude into the practices and performances”
But also students do not like that Guerrero is getting treated-according to them-poorly because of his opinion on the Diamond.
“I do not think he really deserves to get criticized for his opinion because I mean everyone has their own opinion,” Gonzalez said. “Do I agree with him? Not really, but people should back off.”
