Rico Nasty impresses with unique ‘sugar trap’ sound

Nightmare Vacation by Rico Nasty.

“Sugar Trap.” This is what Rico Nasty’s album ‘Nightmare Vacation’ is described as.

Rico Nasty is a 23-year-old mother and rapper. She has been rapping for six years and gained fame in 2016. Her most well-known song is “Oh fr!”, which is due to being put on Tiktok.

The main genre Rico is placed in is female rap, with the subbing genre of sugar trap.

In Nightmare Vacation, Rico uses a lot of light background music while covering it with her hiccuped raspy voice which compliments one another in every song. It can remind one of popping a bubble full of needles or crashing into a cloud at 100 miles per hour.

Her targeted audience is people who want to make money and appreciate aggressiveness in the form of rap, mostly young or alternative people as well.

Rico’s album consists of songs about having a lot of money while taking much pride in her authority and appearance. She quotes “Up so high, why would I want to look down” in her hit “STFU” to emphasize that her fame and money have grown over the years and she will not be failing because of it.

The album features songs such as “girl scout” and “Oh fr!”. These songs hold similar themes to the rest of Nightmare Vacation with lines such as “Oh for real? Rico just put a ten-piece in her grill.” Rico’s album features artists such as Trippie Redd, Gucci Mane, Animé, and Don Toliver, just to list a few.

‘Nightmare Vacation’ receives a 3.5 out of 5 from me. In my opinion, I think the album was very successful. I’ve been listening to Rico for a little while and I’d like to say some of the songs on this album really caught my attention. I enjoy the songs singularly but listening to all of the songs back to back can be repetitive because of the types of beats she uses and what she discusses in the songs on the ‘Nightmare Vacation’ album.

Going through this album is definitely a Nightmare Vacation. I really admire how it takes me to such a different place. The music on this album makes me want to drive a race car down the highway or rob a bank; very inspirational. Overall, the style is very unique and if you are in a confident mood I recommend playing ‘Nightmare Vacation’ and giving it a listen.
