Finding Dory

Finding Dory is a movie that’s about a fish named Dory. She suffers from memory loss every 10 secs or so. All she can really remember is when she somehow became separated from her family. I think this movie is important because she had suffered from memory loss it pointed out the messages about disability and how society treats members of the disabled community.

Coco

Coco is a movie that’s about celebrating life by diving into death. Coco is a lovely, effervescent film about death. The main themes of family responsibility, death and loss. I think this movie is important because it teaches kids to preserve and respect the memory of their elders while reminding them that the source of true creativity is so often personal. 

Inside Out

Inside Out is a movie that’s about making statements to parents and children alike. It says that emotions are important and need to be validated and understood as part of a child’s development. This movie is important because it teaches children to understand them by accepting their own emotions first.

Moana

Moana is a movie that’s about being a person of color, specifically of Polynesian descent it’s important because we need more diversity and people of color in the media.  This movie is important because it’s an inspiration to young children because she showed that curiosity and motivation allows one to succeed. Moana showed that only we know who we truly are and no one, especially men, can tell us who we are or tell us what we can or cannot do. 

Dumbo

Dumbo is a movie that’s about a young circus elephant who is born with comically large ears and given the cruel nickname Dumbo. One day at a show, he is taunted by a group of kids, inciting his mother into a rage that gets her locked up. After Dumbo’s ears cause an accident that injures many of the other elephants, he is made to dress like a clown and perform dangerous stunts. I think this movie is important because just because Dumbo is a different elephant doesn’t mean treat him a different way. 

Tangled

Tangled is a movie that’s about trying to find the courage within yourself. There are things Rapunzel wishes to do in this movie but is too scared. She scared to leave her tower but won’t disobey her mother. This movie important because you shouldn’t have to be scared to do something you want to do it doesn’t matter what other people think. 

Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast is a movie that’s about an arrogant young prince named Benson and his castle’s servants fall under the spell of a wicked enchantress, who turns him into the hideous Beast until he learns to love and be loved in return. The spirited, headstrong village girl Belle enters the Beast’s castle after he imprisons her father Maurice. This movie is important because even though you turn into a hideous beast doesn’t mean you can’t find true love out there in the world.
