Juniors Robyn Clapper, John Espinosa, Christian Martinez , and Eric Guerrero competed in a four day Model UN simulation.
Model UN is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about current events, topics in international relations, diplomacy, and the United Nations agenda. Participants research a country, take on roles as diplomats, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to world problems. Participants also employ a variety of communication and critical thinking skills in order to represent the policies of their country. Amongst 1,500 participants, Clapper was one of the few that won an award for distinguished speaker.
