Code 2 College Club

Code2College is an organization that aims to prepare students in the tech world, providing them with tools and knowledge to enter into technical careers.

It is a multi-year, career prep and college access program that leverages local technical talent to teach coding and web development skills to traditionally underrepresented students in order to push them to and through college, and into STEM career.

Many students learn many skills that will hopefully benefit them for a future in coding. The program has been at Akins for only a year and has already made the future of an eagle brighter.

“I have interest in computer science, and so I was interested in getting involved with coding. I’ve enjoyed learning new skills and I’ve also enjoyed my internship that I got to do over the summer.”

Said Senior Kaci Childers Five more students are to be getting an internship this year just as Childers did. Sessions are held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:30pm after school in the library.
