"Everything that concerns you"

Mak’hi Falkquay, Track

EE: How does it feel reaching this level of opportunity?

MF: “It feels really good. It definitely, like lighten the load on my shoulders just because I know where I’m going for college. So competing for high school. Doesn’t feel as like I’m on a mission even though I am on a mission for state competition, but I already know where I’m going (to college).”

EE: What challenges did you have to face to reach this goal?

MF: “I really had to face just the whole situation with COVID where there was the transfer portal where they can pull other track runners from other colleges instead of really recruiting from high school. So I really just had to put myself out there more and drop my times. I had to be way more consistent than I probably was before.”

EE: What do you want to accomplish in your sport?

MF: “I want to go to the Olympics. Maybe like four time World Championships. Honestly, just be as happy as I can be running track and run till my body tells me like I have to stop.”
