It originally aired in Japan from 1985 to 1995 before getting dubbed in other countries, including the United States. The series follows the adventures of Goku, who — along with his companions — defends Earth against various villains.

Goku starts as a member of an extraterrestrial race known as Saiyans who are sent to destroy everyone on Earth. However, Gohan takes in Goku in as his own kid. Eventually, Goku falls from a mountain, hits his head and loses his memory. This event changes the course of Goku’s life as he becomes Earth’s protector, battling various invaders.
