Dragon Ball Z is a popular Japanese anime television series based on the Dragon Ball manga series created by Akira Toriyama.

It originally aired in Japan from 1985 to 1995 before getting dubbed in other countries, including the United States. The series follows the adventures of Goku, who — along with his companions — defends Earth against various villains.

Dragon Ball Z focuses on Goku’s adult life and parallels the lives of his sons Gohan and Goten. It also details the transition of his rivals Piccolo and Vegeta from enemies to allies.

Goku starts as a member of an extraterrestrial race known as Saiyans who are sent to destroy everyone on Earth. However, Gohan takes in Goku in as his own kid. Eventually, Goku falls from a mountain, hits his head and loses his memory. This event changes the course of Goku’s life as he becomes Earth’s protector, battling various invaders.

The original Dragon Ball Z show ended in 1996, but in April 2009 a second series known as Dragon Ball Z Kai was released and in 2015, Dragon Ball Super was released. This was a hugely popular series. A lot of people really enjoyed it and it gained a good amount of viewers because of all the hype around it. At the end of dragon ball super a kid named Zeno who is the king of everything brought back all the universes even the ones destroyed before the tournament of power

Fans of the Dragon Ball series are once again excited about the theatrical release of Dragon Ball Z: Broly on Jan. 16 2019.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, the movie will take place after the devastation of Planet Vegeta.  Three Saiyans are scattered among the stars, destined for different fates. While two found a home on Earth, the third — Broly — was raised with a burning desire for vengeance and developed an unbelievable power. And the time for revenge has come. Destinies collide in a battle that will shake the universe to its very core.
