Akins wrestlers place in state tournament
Four Akins wrestlers recently competed in the UIL state tournament, two placed, Senior Austin Boles and junior Anna Bacera both placed in their specific weight classes. Senior Austin Boles placed fourth in boys 5A 113lb weight class, and Anna also placed fourth in girls 5A 102lb weight class.
The two Eagles each fought to the semifinals in their individual brackets, but unfortunately both lost their next two games finishing fourth.Becerra lost her consolation game for third place 2-1 to her King High School (Corpus Christi) opponent, Paloma Tijerina. Boles also fought for third place, but lost 8-2 against Christian Ordaz from Franklin High School (El Paso).
