Making history- Senior Shanti Ramdeen (middle bottom), signs her letter of intent to play college volleyball at Coppin State University in Maryland. Ramdeen will be the very first volleyball athlete from Akins to attend a NCAA Division I school on an athletic scholarship. Her family, friends and teammates celebrated her accomplishment with her in a ceremony held in the Akins gym on Nov. 11. Two of her middle school volleyball coaches also attended the event.
