The long wait is almost over.

In two days, one of the most eagerly anticipated and closely guarded films of a generation will be released across the country.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will pick up where the Return of the Jedi left off when it was released in 1983. Fans have waited almost 32 years to find out where the story will take them after Luke Skywalk- er defeated Emperor Palpatine and when the Rebel forces de- stroyed the grip of the Empire over the Galaxy.

In the new upcoming movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the story is set 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi and features a cast of new lead characters like Finn, Rey, and Poe Dameron, alongside familiar Star Wars characters like Han Solo and Chewbacca.

Finn, who is played by John Boyega, is a redeemed First Order stormtrooper. They first find Finn in incredible danger and they throw him into the Star Wars universe in a very unique way. It is said that his character is in possession of the lightsaber that had belonged to Luke and Anakin before him.

Rey, who is played by Daisy Ridley, is a scavenger on the desert planet Jakku. It is said that her character is “completely self-sufficient and does everything for herself, until she meets Finn and an adventure begins.”

Poe Dameron, who is played by Oscar Isaac, is a Resistance X-wing fighter pilot. Being sent on a mission by a certain princess, he comes across Finn and Rey and as their adventure begins their fates come into focus.

In recent clips of The Force Awakens, it focuses on the dark Courtesy of Walt Disney Pictures side of the force giving people a look at the new evil-doer Kylo Ren, a dark warrior strong with the Force, originally a member of the Knights of Ren and commander of the First Order.

Supreme Leader Snoke, who is played by Andy Serkis, Kylo Ren’s master, has said in an interview with Entertain- ment Weekly’s,“Supreme Leader Snoke is quite an enigmatic character, and strangely vulnerable at the same time as being quite powerful. Obviously he has a huge agenda. He has suffered a lot of damage. As I said, there is a strange vulnerability to him, which belies his true agenda, I suppose.”

The new Star Wars movie has been kept on high secrecy. Early screenings of the film haven’t even been shown to critics. Usually when a movie studio decides not to screen a film for critics, it’s a sign of weakness but there is nothing normal about this film.

Star Wars has had a history of being spoiled long before the movie had even been released into theaters. There were many spoilers about the 1999 movie, The Phantom Menace, but that didn’t stop the movie from setting records.

By being secretive of the movie and putting tickets on sale two months ahead of time, The Force Awakens has been able to prevent any spoilers. Director J.J. Abrams has said,” I’m amazed nothing has leaked. Nothing has come out yet. I can’t quite believe it.”

Many people have expressed excitement for this upcoming film. The film is expected to gross $175 million to more than $200 million in the U.S. and Canada in its opening weekend. But beside all the secrecy everyone should be looking forward to December 18, 2015.
