On Feb. 22, Akins High School was put on lockdown after a former student made a terroristic threat to the campus.

Students sheltered in their classrooms for about three hours while waiting for authorities to capture the subject who ran off campus. He was later arrested at the nearby Southpark Meadows shopping center.

Due to the large crowds, in some cases it took parents up to an hour of waiting to be reunited with their children.
