Prescott leads Cowboys in charge for Championship
Columnist Lavel Deckard reflects on remarkable Dallas football season
December 19, 2016
After a thrilling 11-game winning streak, the Dallas Cowboys led by rookie quarterback Dak Prescott fell to the New York Giants on Dec. 11.
Despite the loss, the Cowboys have already secured a spot in the NFL championship playoffs with a strong 11-2 winning record.
The team is hotter than they have been for years under the leadership of Prescott, which took over after long-time quarterback Tony Romo was injured in the preseason. Prescott, a 4th round pick in 2016 draft, has been leading Dallas on the right path.
Romo, who led the Cowboys for 13 years, has suffered multiple injuries and never quite been able to win a championship. He always went out on the field and did what he had to do. That being said Tony Romo was slowing down the Dallas offense by not being able to move like he used to. Dallas Cowboys fans still show love to Romo even though he is not on the field physically playing.
The majority of the fans now agree that the team needed fresh legs on the field to lead the team to be successful and that Prescott was the man to do it.
Although the Cowboys fell to the Giants, ending their winning streak, the team’s defense was stingy, keeping New York to only 10 points.
The Cowboys were unable to capitalize as Prescott’s third-down pass to Dez Bryant at the Giants 47-yard line was picked off by Jenkins, stifling their best chance to score in the second half.
Despite the loss to the Giants, Cowboy fans are excited to be having a new quarterback who can come to the field and put on a show for them and win games.
Dallas fans have been turnt up to the max lately we talking about posting wild snaps with them doing the most. Also what’s catching my attention is folks who said they weren’t dallas Cowboys fans are now walking around wearing Dak Prescott, Dez Bryant, and Ezekiel Elliott jerseys.
On Sunday December the 18 the Dallas Cowboys beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 26 to 20. Meanwhile, Prescott made the Dallas fans happy, bringing their overall record to 12-2 and gaining yards with running back Ezekiel Elliott
After the Tampa Bay Buccaneers game, the Cowboys will take on the Detroit Lions on Dec. 26 and the Philadelphia Eagles on Jan. 1. The Cowboys have already guaranteed themselves a spot in the playoffs. The question on every Cowboys fan’s mind will be how far can Prescott take them this year.
