Borderlands 4 was launched in September, and the hype surrounding it has been massive. Many players have been waiting for this game for ages and are excited about all the new features it offers. Although the hype has been intense, many early testers who played the game have reported numerous bugs affecting gameplay and actions you can perform. Many console players have experienced bugs impacting performance, from lag to crashes. These bugs are common on consoles, although the experience differs on PC, where playing without tweaking settings remains challenging.
ā From my experience, although some games have had bugs, they werenāt as severe as those in Borderlands 4, from what Iāve heard. Past titles like Borderlands 2 and 3 provided amazing experiences, and I feel this new game may not match up to those classics. The Borderlands franchise has been a rollercoaster with mixed opinions everywhere.
The days following the game’s release have brought a mix of emotions. Many players discover new bugs and overpowered weapons early on, even after initial bug fixes. Addressing these issues early has been problematic, as early beta testers already identified many of them. Compared to previous titles, the bugs in Borderlands 4 are worse. Although Borderlands 3’s story was somewhat dull, it was a solid run-and-gun game that was playable with few bugs upon its 2019 release. Fans had high expectations based on their love for the previous game, but they were quickly disappointed.
The Borderlands franchise dates back to 2009. The games before Borderlands 4 generally met expectations, despite some bugs. They were all playable and memorable, especially for their storylines. Having been around for years, the franchise had many excited for the new release.
The game prior was Borderlands 3. This game met the general expectations of gamers who really enjoyed the previous one. The amount of love the previous game received had people have high expectations for the newer release with more gameplay/story modes / different events, etc.
Although bugs arenāt new to the franchise, the devs quickly fixed bugs before the release, as early beta testers played it before it was released to the public to make sure we had a fully fun and amazing experience.Ā
As the game launched, Gearbox Software, the studio behind Borderlands 4, has been rushing to fix issues to keep the player base satisfied. Many elements have been nerfed or buffed, and more changes are expected in upcoming updates. The studio is doing its best to keep up, but these problems ideally should have been resolved before release, rather than being released in this state.Ā
