For the first time, Austin fans of the popular X Games extreme sports and concert series will soon have the opportunity to attend the event as it takes place their figurative backyard next week.
Running from June 5 to June 8, starting off deep in the heart of Texas in downtown Austin is where the inauguration of the X Games will commence with its Vert Ramp.
The X Games will take place at the Circuit of Americas, featuring top music talent such as Kanye West and the sickest skateboard, BMX and motocross riders from around the world.
For the next four years, Austin will host the X Games at the F1 racetrack just east of town off of the State Highway 130 toll road. Austin is replacing Los Angeles as the host city after it hosted the X Games for 11 years.
Fitting with Austin’s live music scene, this year’s X Games will feature a Battle of the Bands contest in which local bands will compete for a prize of $25,000 that will be awarded based on audience voting.
Another new addition to the already anticipated X Games is
the Major League Gaming for the MLG Call of Duty: Ghosts”-tournament, which will feature the top five “Call of Duty” teams based on MLG Pro Points. It will also feature the top three teams from the “Call of Duty” championship held in Winter Park, Fla., last month according to ESPN’s website.
Tickets range from $89 to $189 for general admission for most areas of the competitions as well as musical performances at the festival for all three days.
X Games Austin will also be televised on various different channels such as ESPN and ABC for 20 live hours of footage from June 5 to the 8.
Along with its debut music festival, World Premiere Action Sports Competition will have nine themed festival villages all holding different performances and experiences ranging from gaming and truck racing.
Attendees will be able to get their blood pumping from zip lining, playing dodge ball, and go kart racing to its obstacle course to many more.
The festival will also hold food stands from local Austin food establishments like Torchy’s Tacos and more Austin favorites.
