Calling all creepy crawlies and Halloween lovers, this Hollow’s Eve will be a bloody one indeed. If you are a fan of slasher films and senseless violence, then Terrifier 3 is the movie for you. Releasing on October 11, Terrifier 3 is a highly anticipated slasher movie that follows Damien Leone’s poster monster, Art The Clown. The Terrifer series is known for its over-the-top gore, so if you have a weak stomach, steer clear of this slasher film.
If you think Terrifier is a brand-new, cash-grab, low-effort, horror movie then you’d be wrong. Terrifier 3 is the latest in a series of two previous movies and one short film that was released in 2011. Audiences first saw Art the Clown as far back as 2008 with the release of The 9th Circle, which was the first time we saw the Clown, and later in the 2013 horror anthology All Hallows’ Eve. This version has additional footage that is not seen in the original standalone short, which was first published on YouTube and the first movie in 2016.
Leone’s love for his killer clown has led him to reject major Hollywood studios that wanted to make the Terrifier films but required them to be less gory to appeal to a wider audience. Terrifier 2 racked in $15.7 million at the box office, it also built a cult following with loyal fans digging deep to find out who the killer clown is. With so much hype from the second movie, Terrifier 3 already has the bar set high, leaving fans to wonder whether Leone can deliver. Terrifier 2 had a budget of $250,00, but Terrifier 3 has a budget of $2 million, eight times what they had originally, so expect eight times the gore.
So who is this clown, going around the town, terrorizing the locals on the big screen. Despite having three stand-alone films, one short film, and being a side character in movies, Art the Clown is shrouded in mystery. Throughout his day, he has never talked nor made a single noise and his motives are unclear as to why he’s doing what he does. Some fans appreciate that his actions speak louder than his words.
The gore level is definitely intense. Art,the Clown takes great joy in his bloody massacre, leaving the actor who played him unsettled after performing a scene in a scene from Terrifier 3. Besides general members of the audience who ran out of the theatre to throw up, the actor David Thornton who plays Art, revealed during a press tour interview that he also couldn’t keep his lunch down after shooting one of the scenes in the movie.
If this is how Thornton responded to the film, fans are wondering how they will react.
If you can overcome your fears, go watch it at one of the many theatres in the Austin area that are screening Terrifier 3, including Cinemark Southpark Meadows, Regal Metroplitian, Regal Westgate, EVO Entertainment Kyle and AMC Barton Creek Square 14.
