Jack Stauber’s songs give me a nostalgic feeling every time I listen to his music. For example, the song “Al Dente” reminds me of being a kid again. You know, when you rub your eyes too hard, you start seeing colors and odd shapes? That’s what it feels like listening to Jack’s songs. The funky beat is the colors; it’s almost hypnotizing. It’s like being transported to another universe.
Jack Stauber [pronounced staw-bur] is an American musical artist from McKean, a small rural town near Erie, Pennsylvania. He was born on April 6th, 1996, and is currently 29 years old. Jack Stauber’s music has its own unique taste and animation. He primarily creates synth-pop, but often incorporates elements of folk, jazz, lo-fi, and rock. Jack is also known for his impressively flexible singing voice, which can hit deep lows and high falsettos.
All revealed in an interview with NewRetroWave in 2018, “Jack grew up with a lot of vintage items from the 80s and 90s, which would be big influences on his life, music, and art style.”
Jack is also notable for his lyrics, which are often bizarre and infamously hard to make out, resulting in numerous misheard lyrics. This has caused various listeners to believe that his lyrics are random and just for fun. However, he has stated in the aforementioned interview that just about every song he writes has a meaning, claiming that he wouldn’t sing them if they didn’t make sense. Jack has lots of anti-drugs, anti-alcohol, and anti-suicide in some of his songs, as well as in his animations.
Jack said in an interview, he listened to a lot of “campy alt” music from the 1980s, courtesy of his mother, and a lot of “good ol’ dead and jazz funk” from his father. Jack also said that in high school, he used to listen to a lot of art rock and experimental pop, with Jack stating that The Residents and M83’s Digital Shades had blown his mind when first listening to it and how they’ve led him to the music that he’s still into today, which can be seen when listening to albums like Pop Food and HiLo.
What makes Jack’s music unique is that each song is distinct from the others, exploring different genres and carrying distinct meanings.
Many of the movies and television shows that Jack watched while growing up were also major inspirations for his art styles. One big example is the American cartoon Rugrats, which Jack claims was his favorite cartoon growing up, and he used to really love animation studio Klasky Csupo’s art style in the show, especially in the pilot episode. Some creators have defined him as an artist with childish creativity (in a positive way) with a fetish for teeth, a recurring element in his videos, and with a unique vocal tone.
Jack Stauber is mostly known for his popular album called “Food Pop. ”His most famous song(s) would be “Buttercup,” “Oh Klahoma,” “Choice,” “Doctor,” “Dog Nightmare,” “Cupid,” and “There’s Something Happening.” (Also “Peppermint.”)
Jack Stauber takes many interviews, but Jack Stauber would begin posting less to the public and would start posting primarily and exclusively on Patreon. Jack notably now has a common schedule for his Patreon content, posting a new video and song at the very end of a month. There currently aren’t any public updates on Jack’s current status and plans, as well as the reasons for Jack’s sudden Patreon migration, and it has been a mystery to many fans over the years.
Why should you give Jack Stauber a listen? Well, His music gets you thinking about it all day, a beat you can’t ignore, bobbing your head to the beat, or humming along. It has that funky beat that controls your every move, and Jack has an amazing voice that makes it impossible to ignore. It’s strange but comforting at the same time.
