Boys basketball season recap
The varsity boys’ basketball season has come to an end after a 74-57 loss to Atascotia (Humble, TX) on Feb. 20 in the Texas 5A UIL tournament.
The Eagles recorded a playoff win just days before defeating Pflugerville (Pflugerville, TX) by a score of 44-42.
Akins finished off the regular season with a 19-13 record (6-6) in district, good enough to propel them to a playoff appearance. Seniors Marcale Lotts, Tederick Lowery and Jared Mendez led the way for the Eagles this year accumulating wins for the team.
Next year’s seniors Jerome Scaturro, DeAnthony Owens, Shafiq Figueroa and Isaiah Ramdeen are set to take the helms of the team and lead them to success just as their predecessors did.
