On Wednesday, Mazda Motor sports came to Akins High School to put on a presentation for the students in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math academy.

“We  have a Lemans race at Circuit of the Americas so we selected Akins to talk about how STEM relates to what we do,” driver Joel Miller said.

Students and administrators excitedly walked to the auditorium for the presentation and passed by Miller’s race car that was parked in the middle of the courtyard.

“I’m very excited for their presentation,” principal Daniel Girard said. “I would love to drive it, but I doubt they’d let me.”

STEM students were very pleased with this presentation and the opportunity to be able to meet and talk to a race driver.

“It’s a great opportunity for students in STEM to see things we learn turn into something real,” junior Paul Jarrell said.
