Girls Soccer wins Iron Horse Tournament

Information from Eric Cannon, Head Girl’s Soccer Coach:

Akins Girls Soccer travelled to Giddings this past Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to the first annual Iron Horse Invitational Varsity Soccer Tournament.  The tournament was a round robin, five team tournament, with the winner decided by overall record.  Our squad won 3 out of four games decisively and tied the last game, matching records with the formidable Giddings squad.  Based on the tiebreaker rules we edged out Giddings based on goal differential and took home the trophy!  We scored 19 goals throughout the tournament and only allowed 2.

Our girls showed amazing resilience throughout the tournament and improved their skills and team chemistry throughout.  I will detail each games box score below but want to recognize each of our girls and invite you to congratulate them next week.  In addition to the trophy, several of our girls were awarded individual honors with first and second team all tournament recognitions.
