Austin is a very difficult place for high school kids to get their first jobs.

High schoolers compete against the many college-aged students that live in Austin while attending the University of Texas, Austin Community College and St. Edwards University.

Many employers would rather hire a college-aged student rather than a high school kid because of their availability, and their years of having more experience.

Here are some “Do’s and Don’ts” when applying for a job. Before you decide to go for an interview here are some things that you must know before you jump into things. From personal experience I can say that you absolutely must present yourself very well, whether it be your mannerism or the way you present yourself to the employer, it makes a big difference whenever you are looking to apply for a job.
